However, it is open to other veterinary professionals interested in the subject. Participation in this day does NOT qualify any delegates in the field of veterinary physiotherapy nor does it qualify them to use this title. The techniques practiced during this day should only be used upon prescription by a qualified vet.

"Palliative and critical care physiotherapy for the canine patient"

  • Speaker: Matthew Scott BSc (Hons) MNAVP     Price: £110

  • Location: Banfield Equestrian, Newent, Gloucestershire, GL18 1NF

  • Description: The aim of this day is to highlight some of the less common areas of veterinary medicine where veterinary physiotherapy and rehabilitation can be applicable and potentially improve patient outcome.
We will look into what sort of cases can be expected on a critical/intensive care unit and how physiotherapy can be used to assist these patients in their recovery. We will then move onto discussing the use of respiratory physiotherapy techniques in dogs and these techniques will form the basis of the practical session. Finally, we will look at the benefits of rehab in small animal palliative care situations, such as the cancer patient and therefore, the use of rehab in oncology will be discussed as well as how we may be able to help the owner through this difficult period when providing end of life care.
